SKYLANDERS CAKE
Skylanders are a HUGE hit in the video gaming arena. My son LOVES them and started his obsession with the Skylanders Giants. Then Came along Skylanders Swap Forces, and now he loves Skylanders Trap Team.
I have to keep coming up with new ideas each year as he always asks for the same thing for years. This is my 3rd Skylanders Cake. You can find my 2 previous ones on my pinterest page:
This year, for his 9th birthday, I created a Skylander’s scene as best as I could. I didn’t use fondant as I didn’t want to spend the time doing that. Here’s the breakdown of the Cake Below:
On the Left- Chocolate Chocolate Cake. I took a short cut this time, and purchased a large Cake from Costco. I cut 1/3 of the cut off and then cut that piece in 2. I stack them both for the upper part of the Skyland.
The island on the right is actually a brownie. My daughter loves brownies, so I baked too small rounds of brownies and stacked them.
The Sheep Creeps are White Cake with White Frosting. Use Marshmallows and a chunk of brownie for the head. I used the “eyes” you can purchase from the store.
Materials for the HIGH LAND Cake – Vanilla Wafers with chocolate dirty frosting. Hazelenut Chocolate “sticks” – (can’t remember what they are called, starts with a P- you can find them in the cookie aisle)
-Frosted a later of green frosting for the grass spilling over the edge. Cut up pieces of gummy fruit for the flowers.
Piped Green Grass on the edges.
The water is blue frosting. I used Rice Krispie Treats to create rocks along the edges and marshmallows for the crash of the water.
Around the edges of the water are smashed cookie.
The Bridge is a Kit Kat. I used 3 wood skewers to connect the 2 lands and balanced the chocolate on top.
