YAHOOOO! The day has finally come!! First of all, thank you to everyone who has been following my venture through my first pregnancy. I truly appreciate all the support and encouragement. It truly makes the experience easier and more enjoyable when you have such postive people surrounding you. And so here’s the story…. Since I was 8 days late on Friday, St Patty’s Day, they decided to send me in to be induced. This meant we would check in the hospital on Friday night at 7pm to start a drug that I would have to be on for 12 hours in order to start inducing. We arrived to find my friend Carol (see below for previous posting our our pregnant turbo bellies) in the room next to ours already in the middle of labor. Luckily she was able to talk as she had already gotten her epidural. 😉 They administered the drug to start the "ripening" process, which would take 12 hours. They offered for me to take morphine to rest for the night before the big day. Buuut, ripening happened fast! By 9pm, labor had kicked in. By 1am, I couldn’t wait for the Dr to adminsiter the epidural. I thought I was going to try and last as long as I could without it, maybe my pain threshold was high enough, forget about it. With contractions hitting the highest mark on our screen, I didn’t feel a thing..YEAH! Around 4am, I was dilated to 6cm. Moving right along, or so I thought. By 6am, no progress was made and the baby was lodged down too deep preventing me from dilating any further. I then went in for a c-section. They did a fantastic job with my incision and sutures. Luckly I plead my case of being a fitness professional and to do the best they could for me. Johnny was born at 8:52 am on Saturday March 18th.
He was 7 lbs 9 oz and 20 1/2 inches long.
Finally in the recovery room, 2 hours after the birth, I was able to hold him for the first time. He looks (as much as I can tell) exactly like me with possibly John’s nose. The rest of his body, including is very long feet, are my husbands features. Those newborn socks that we got plently of will need to go back to the store to be exchanged.

It has been a great time at home with my husband off from work helping. I have to be careful not to rush into too much as I feel like I can do it, but have to make sure that I take my time doing things. It’s just my nature to want to get back into moving as quickly as possible. He has been great sleeping in the night (knock knock knock) only getting up 2 times at 1 and 5 am. I can’t help but want to to hold him rather than putting him down to sleep in the bassinet for naps or in the bouncer. Sometimes life just has to stop for 2-3 hours so I can have him sleep on my chest and just stare at him.
