Are you sick of seeing sweaty selfie’s all over social media?
Sometimes you wonder….. “why do they take a gross picture, with the same expression, and share it with the world?”
There’s actually HUGE benefits to it, especially if you ride the struggle bus with your workouts, nutrition, and healthy habits.
As a selfie-taker and a fitness professional, I have done some research to discover what reasons there are (if any!) to take a post-workout selfie. Turns out, there are plenty!
1) Photo’s Show Results!
Post-workout selfies are a great way to document the results of the time and effort you’ve been putting into training. Even if you don’t post it publicly, you can take progress photos as you progress in your workouts and meal plans to remind yourself on how far you’ve come. If you do like to share photos, then friends and family will see and comment on your results too, encouraging you to keep it up!
2) Social Media Posts creating a REWARDING Feeling
Social Media Posts are a Reward for Hard Work
Why not post a photo? Posting what you’re doing and your journey will feel rewarding and proud! You are focused and making a positive effort in improving yourself. That is something to brag about!
3) Posting Selfies Can Motivate Others!
What you’re doing is MOTIVATING! Share your journey, struggle, and triumphs! You never know who’s “watching” and can help motivate others to go for a walk, work out, or join a fitness group. Becoming an advocate for a healthy lifestyle, you’ll feel even more engaged in your own fitness journey.
4) Creates More Accountability
Think about all those times you have fallen off the wagon. Or said, I’ll just re-start again on Monday. Did you let anyone know you were following a program? Meal Plan? What your goals were? Most times, No. Because when you leave it up to yourself to motivate yourself, to hold yourself accountable, to follow through – it’s easy to fall off and just renegotiate a new goal with yourself.
By creating a rhythm of posting photos on social media, you’ll build habits that reinforce your fitness efforts. You’ll actually feel responsible to your following and think they’re waiting for that next update!
5) Built In Cheering Section!
When you are a part of an online fitness community, you immediately have a bond. A group of others who know what you are going through, are on the journey themselves, and can offer support
We can all use a little more accountability and encouragement in our lives and fitness routines. A quick snapshot is an easy step you can take at the end of your workout that can help make a difference in adhering to a fitness routine. Whether it’s for public sharing, private encouragement, or just for fun, a post-workout selfie could be an effective tactic for you to keep it up.
